Learning about AdSense
You should be able to tell by the freshly served ads from Google that I’ve already sold out! I’ve decided to reap the benefits of the millions of visitors that flock to my blog on a daily basis, and monetize my stream-of-consciousness diatribe.
Hey! It could happen! Besides, as a means of learning more about AdSense so that I could have a discussion about it with my biggest client (Steve at Higley1000.com) I couldn’t think of a better approach than by diving in headfirst. Like lots of other folks who’ve walked this path before me, I was hesitant to dirty up my site with a bunch of nasty advertisements, but Google has so many formats for their ads that I was able to sneak in some fairly unobtrusive ads without making the rest of the website look crass. That’s important to me.
That’s also important to Steve. He wants to maintain a nice clean look on his site, because the site is supposed to be authoritative and unbiased. I think that I can make some recommendations to him that he’ll like, and I’ll use this site as an example.
I’m especially interested in seeing what kind of statistics will be generated concerning the traffic here. As a relative newbie in my role as website administrator I’ve already become fascinated with the logs of the traffic to my site which my host provides to me. Now, with Google watching every page load from the server, I’m beginning to feel like I’m plugged in to the Mothership!

I didn’t know there were different formats for the ads. It will be interesting to see what the choices are… Steve
